Certificate in Foundations for Ministry
The Certificate in Foundations for Ministry is designed for persons without a bachelor’s degree who seek theological education to provide a foundation for ministry.
The primary purpose of ministry is to share the good news of the Gospel, which addresses every aspect of our lives as human beings.
To share this Gospel requires serious theological study of the Scriptures, our cultural context, our moral lives, and ways in which the Gospel might be shared.
Through a directed course of study in Memphis Theological Seminary classes, guided by regular participation in a ministry seminar, students will gain a basic theological education consisting of biblical study, along with cultural and moral analysis in relation to ministry.
The course of study is as follows (It is suggested that courses be taken in this order):
- Interpreting the Hebrew Bible
- Interpreting the New Testament
- Christian Heritage I
- Christian Heritage II
- Context and Models for Mission and Evangelism
- Christian Ethics
Note: Graduate credit is not given for courses in the Certificate in Foundations for Ministry program.
