Youth/Associate Pastor
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor

Job Summary:
The part-time Youth Pastor, first and foremost, works to help people grow as disciples of Jesus and to live out the Church’s mission. They
will participate in all areas of the church’s ministry, with a primary emphasis on youth (grades 6-12) and related pastoral duties. They will
work with volunteers, ministry teams, and the Leadership Team to accomplish those ministries. The Youth Pastor will receive supervision
from the Senior Pastor and work with the rest of the staff in an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation.
Job Requirements:
1. Deep, personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to live in a God honoring way.
2. Must be committed to his/her own spiritual growth, including daily prayer and time with scriptures.
3. Three years’ ministry experience working with youth in a church or community setting, or similar combination of education and
experience desired. Willingness to engage in theological and ministerial education.
4. Conduct all business with integrity, confidentiality and in a professional manner and work as a team member with church staff and
congregation.
5. Proficiency in social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube).
6. Worship Technology and Website editing preferred.
7. Ordination is not required. If not ordained, there is an expectation that he/she would be exploring the process to be ordained in the
Global Methodist Church.
8. Must be a self-starter who is able to work with volunteer youth leaders to plan, develop, implement and promote comprehensive
youth ministries that incorporate opportunities for worship, fellowship, discipleship, service, and evangelism.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Recruit and develop program leadership among youth and adults. Will work with youth and adult leadership to plan meetings, events,
and activities. Will work with youth and adult leadership to provide revised Youth Program structure (as needed) and establish long-
term vision.
2. Works with the Director of Children’s Ministries to establish a cohesive and purposeful transition plan as youth move from Children’s
Ministry to Youth Ministry.
3. Organize regular service opportunities for youth, intended to impact people who are in need and provide an environment for out-of-
town destination-based short-term mission trips.
4. Organize and facilitate on-site & off-site events such as day trips and overnight retreats for youth. Responsible for events that focus
on outreach, spiritual formation, and community building.
5. Oversee the communication and promotion of Youth Ministry activities, meetings, events, and trips, as well as the ministry’s program
structure, volunteer guidelines/requirements and general vision of the youth ministry leadership team, utilizing app-based reminders,
text messaging, emails, social media, and occasionally printed documents to keep this information accessible and promoted. The
Youth Pastor will ensure that information is being communicated to the facilitators of the church website as well as church’s
newsletters, bulletins, or other communications, when needed.
6. Ensure that all volunteers involved in youth ministries are in compliance with the Safe Sanctuary policies and procedures. The Youth
Pastor is also responsible for the management of important medical and parent release forms for various activities, and other
important documents related to these ministries and those involved.
7. Manage and administer the resources and budget related to the Youth Ministry. Plan and conduct fundraising activities to
supplement the ministry budget.
8. Work with the Senior Pastor each year in planning, organizing and teaching Confirmation Class.
9. Attend continuing education events based on development plans, as recommended by the Senior Pastor.
10. Will participate in the life of the congregation and assist in pastoral duties (worship leading, preaching, teaching, visitation, weddings,
funerals, etc.) and will assume those duties in the absence of the Senior Pastor.
11. Participate in other activities as needed and directed by the Senior Pastor.
Hours:
This is a part-time position requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week. Because of weekend work and some night meetings, the schedule
will remain flexible, to be approved by the Senior Pastor. Sunday mornings for worship services and Sunday School. Youth small group
bible study Wednesday evenings (6 to 8 pm). Youth Fellowship Sunday evenings (5-7 pm).
Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits: Health Insurance, Pension, and Vacation.
Physical Demands:
1. The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling,
stooping, and repetitive motion.
2. Must have good balance and coordination.
3. The physical requirements of this position are: light work – exerting up to 25 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force
frequently.
4. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity and perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures;
transcribing; viewing; a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
5. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under
conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
Supervision Provided by This Position:
There are no direct supervisory responsibilities assigned to this position.
