The 2024 Holmes-Todd Lecture with Dr. Catherine Meeks

February 15 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Memphis Theological Seminary is pleased to welcome Dr. Catherine Meeks as the speaker for the 2024 Holmes-Todd Lecture

Thursday, February 15 at 7:00 pm CST at Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (1720 Peabody Ave.) and on the Facebook page of Memphis Theological Seminary

Optional reception at 6:00 pm CST at Grace-St. Luke’s featuring a book sale from Novel bookstore and light refreshments (RSVP at the registration form below)

Catherine Meeks, PhD, the recent recipient of the President Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award, is Executive Director of the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to the center’s opening she chaired its precursor, Beloved Community: Commission for Dismantling Racism for the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. A sought-after teacher and workshop leader, the core of Dr. Meeks’ work has been with people who have been marginalized because of economic status, race, gender or physical ability as they pursue liberation, justice and access to resources that can help lead them to health, wellness and a more abundant life. This work grows out of her understanding of her call to the vocation of teacher as well as her realization that all of humanity is one family which God desires to unite.

This event is worth 1 colloquia credit for MDiv and MACM students at MTS. To receive credit, they must register with their MTS email address and attend the event in-person or online. The day after the event, a form will be sent to registered students for them to verify that they attended the event in its entirety.
