Amal Altareb

Amal Altareb is a senior at Central High School, a Facing History and Ourselves student leader, and a Bezos Scholar. She moved to Memphis from Yemen in 2012. She speaks Arabic, English and has been learning Russian for five years. Her transnational identity makes her passionate about conversations and building connections between diverse people. She is the founder of the Bezos Chapter at Central HS, and is currently working on the April 11th “Speak901” event that will bring diverse Memphians together to share their stories and learn how to get involved in local organizations to improve Memphis.
