Tricia Vesely teaches courses in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament and ethics. Her research interests focus on the intersection between biblical studies and ethics with a particular concentration on character-based ethical approaches and the wisdom texts of the Hebrew Bible. Her additional interests lie in gender and religion, narrative ethics, and biblical languages. She is the author of Friendship and Virtue Ethics in the Book of Job (Cambridge University Press, 2019) and co-editor of Seeking Wisdom’s Depths and Torah’s Heights: Essays in Honor of Samuel E. Balentine (Smyth & Helwys, 2020). 

Tricia earned her Ph.D. at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA in 2017. Prior to joining MTS, she taught courses in biblical Hebrew, Hebrew Bible, religion, and ethics at Union Presbyterian Seminary and Virginia Commonwealth University. Tricia is also an accomplished pianist and has worked as an accompanist for professional ballet companies and their schools for over 20 years. Before beginning her appointment at MTS, she served as Music Director for a Presbyterian Church in the Richmond, VA area.
