Brentwood Baptist Church

The Nolensville Campus, Connection Minister, is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Administration and Care Minister, for planning, casting vision, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive assimilation and guest services ministry. The focus of this position is leading the membership assimilation process and the various guest services teams. Secondarily, the Connection Minister will serve as a liaison to the Communications department to ensure major messages and marketing strategies are implemented at the Church at Nolensville.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ROLE:
  • Oversee the New Member Orientation Process including:
    • Plan, promote, and help facilitate Discover classes, including Discover Us and Discover You (PLACE.)
    • Oversight of PLACE Ministry and Staff at the Nolensville Campus
    • Assimilation of members into discipleship and service
    • Develop and oversee a team of membership guides who walk with membership prospects through the process.
    • Baptism service coordination and leading, in conjunction with the Deacons
    • Records management for all members
    • Visitor/guest follow-up
    • Work with Groups & Missions Minister to promote LIFE group/ Focus Study opportunities and help new members to connect to a group.
    • Decision Counselor coordination with Campus and Teaching Pastor
GUEST SERVICES MINISTRY:
  • Management of Guest Services ministry including:
    • Sunday Guest Services ministry including ushers, greeters, welcome centers, parking lot, shuttle buses, coffee service, etc.
    • Safety, CPR, first aid, and emergency procedures
    • Security staff and procedures
    • Worship Attendance Tracking
    • Weather alerts, procedures and contingency plan
CAMPUS COMMUNICATIONS:
  • Serve as a liaison to the Communications Department
    • Communicate weekly (or as directed/needed) with appropriate AA’s and Comms to ensure major messages are communicated through the eConnect, Bulletin, and other key channels, as well as to ensure alignment in planning.
    • Review the Nolensville website weekly to ensure up to date information
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Work collaboratively with the PLACE Team and each ministry of the church to assimilate people into discipleship and service.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Team to be sure that the new member, PLACE and Guest Services Ministry strategies and opportunities are documented and available to the church on a timely basis through print, web, and other media outlets.
  • Maintain and refine job descriptions, expectations and standards for each Guest Services, PLACE and New Member staff and volunteer leader position.
  • Lead regular Guest Services, PLACE and New Member Ministry team meetings in order to communicate clearly about strategic, tactical and operational goals. These meetings should also develop a sense of teamwork and foster a sense of cooperation among the ministries.
  • Establish annual goals and conduct Quarterly Review meetings with each direct report.
  • Pray with and for all direct reports and volunteers on a regular basis and hold staff and team leaders accountable for personal spiritual and ministerial growth (self-development plan).
  • Provide pastoral care to direct reports and volunteers and serve as a resource to the team for additional “difficult” pastoral care/leadership related situations.
  • Report to the Administration and Care Minister at monthly 1-on-1’s on team progress and initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate and work alongside the Campus administrative assistant, who will help carry out the day-to-day administrative responsibilities of the Service Ministries.
  • Meet at least quarterly with the Connection Minister at the Brentwood Campus
  • Be available to serve the church as a decision counselor, pastoral counselor, on-call minister and on-site minister (as assigned). Perform weddings and funerals as available.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A willingness to be a “team player,” where collaboration can exist between the new member and Guest Services ministries and other ministries within Brentwood Baptist.
  • An understanding and passion for assimilating people into the church and their Kingdom assignment.
  • The proven ability to think strategically and work with assimilation and Guest Services models, paradigms and delivery channels.
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills combined with an exceptional relational ability. Training in Modelnetics (Main Event Management) is preferred or essential in the first year.
  • The proven ability to manage people, budgets, long range planning and plan implementation in secular and/or church environments
  • A personal sense of calling from God to vocational Christian ministry in general and to this particular area of ministry.
  • Can identify closely with the mission, values, vision, theology, philosophy and methodology of Brentwood Baptist Church.
  • A mature Christian who is demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit, is growing in their faith and is committed to spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer.
  • The proven ability to identify, equip and lead a team of volunteers.
  • Ability to collaborate, cooperate and function well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree from an accredited university. A Master’s Degree from an accredited seminary preferred.
  • At least three to five years experience on a church staff is preferable.
