Scholars Week

October 16-17, 2018, Memphis

Memphis Theological Seminary is proud to launch Scholars Week, a new academic program which will bring the full MTS community together – students in all degree programs, alumni, faculty, staff, and community supporters – in scholarly reflection on a relevant topic for the practice of ministry.

About Scholars Week

This extended time for scholarly community and fellowship will allow participants to customize their Scholars Week experience, dedicate time for academic advising and mentoring, share formative conversation beyond the classroom, and network with area ministries and community programs in the information fair. For alumni, Scholars Week offers a homecoming experience for reunion, mentoring, and continuing education.

For our Inaugural Scholars Week event, MTS presents the William T. and Virginia H. Ingram Lectures featuring Rev. Dr. Frank Thomas speaking on Mentoring and Pastoral Identity. Dr. Thomas has authored numerous books, including How To Preach A Dangerous Sermon (2018), An Introduction to the Practice of African American Preaching (2016), They Like to Never Quit Praisin’ God (2013), and many more!
